Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 (10 oz.) bag of marshmallows
  • 2/3 cup boxed yellow cake mix
  • 6 cups rice krispie cereal
  • 1/2 cup sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Spray a 11x7 baking pan with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large (I mean large :) saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the marshmallows and stir constantly. 
  4. Once the marshmallows are completely melted, stir in the dry cake mix. 
  5. Remove pan from heat.  (The next steps should be done fairly quickly because the marshmallows get sticky quick!)
  6. Stir in the cereal until it is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  7. Mix in half of the sprinkles. 
  8. Press (lightly!) into prepared baking pan and top with the remaining sprinkles. 
  9. Chill for 30 minutes, cut into squares and enjoy!
